Descpription:
Ragnagard, known as Shinoken in Japan, is a
joint effort between Saurus and System Vision. It's a 2D side-view fighting
game using characters from Japanese mythology for some fighters. But
it distinguishes itself from other 2D fighters with some unique features.
The game uses frames of computer graphics for character animation. Instead of
having an artist drawing each frame by hand, the developers modeled the characters
in 3D with a computer. These 3D models were then rendered while performing a
series of movements, and captured for use as animation frames within the game.
The characters therefore, while still being 2D, have a distinctive look to them.
Ragnagard also introduces a fighter that's actually composed of two characters.
Chichi-Nene is a set of twins that fight together and act as one player.
Besides the usual standard and special techniques, the game offers
two desperation moves and one super-desperation move for each fighter.
