Descpription:
Mystic Warriors (known as Mystic Warriors: Ikari
no Ninja in Japan) is a side-scrolling, ninja-themed arcade shoot 'em
up released by Konami in 1993 as a follow-up to their two previous
wild-west shooters: Sunset Riders('91) and Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa('92).
The gameplay is quite similar to the earlier, western-themed Sunset Riders,
also by Konami. Unlike in Sunset Riders, each character has a life-bar,
and once their life-bar is depleted (after 3 hits), they will lose a life.
The game also includes other improvements that were not included in
Sunset Riders, such as the ability for players to change characters
after they lose a credit, and it gives the arcade operator the ability
to change the arcade cabinet from a two player cabinet to a four player
cabinet (and vice-versa) through the use of a dip-switch.
The player(s) will find boxes scattered around each level, all of
which contain power-ups. Similar to Sunset Riders, the basic attack
method is firing projectiles (Shurikens) at enemies and collecting
power-ups to increase your firing ability.
The player will alsodiscover various Japanese foods with
the purpose of restoring the player's life-bar.
Some other power-ups include: an invulnerability shield (known as
the "Shinobi Shield"), which lasts a few seconds, and a "Smart Bomb"
power-up, which eliminates all enemies on screen.
Also, inside the boxes are various items, including bags of money,
jewelery, and gold, which provide the player with extra points.
